This course is dedicated to preparing the applicant for the performance of high resolution ultrasound examinations of the musculoskeletal system, as well as anyone interested in obtaining CME credits, or learning more about musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound in general.
All materials necessary for completion of this course are included and a dedicated textbook is not required. The course has been organized into four study modules. There is a comprehensive atlas of MSK images showing normal anatomy as well as numerous MSK pathologies and artifacts. Following each module the student completes and returns an "open book" assignment with an average of twenty-five questions.
Each marked assignment is returned to the student with an explanatory answer key indicating the correct response. At the end of the course, the student has the option of writing a "closed book" final examination under the supervision of an invigilator.
This course had been approved for 40 CME credits by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS). A CME certificate is issued to the student with the completion of the fourth assignment. The final examination does not have to be taken to receive CME credits.
